**Now seeing clients in person**
Dr. Mazetto is a post-doctoral psychologist fellow at the Williamsburg Therapy Group who has years of international experience conducting neuropsychological evaluations and providing psychotherapy to a diverse client population of children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She currently sees people in-person and online.
Dr. Mazetto specializes in treating children who find themselves struggling with a wide range of challenges such as early developmental delays, social and communication difficulties, attention deficit and learning differences, anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues. She also has interest and experience working with emerging adults facing life transition challenges.
To respond to a wide range of referral questions, she conducts neuropsychological evaluations, which include measuring cognitive, social-emotional, language, sensorimotor, visuospatial, and executive functioning. Dr. Mazetto’s expertise includes evaluating and treating children on the autism spectrum and presenting with other developmental conditions. The assessment may be the first step to identifying possible learning and social-emotional differences and obtaining special services.
Dr. Mazetto offers a relational, comprehensive, and collaborative approach with families. Working from an integrative stance that draws on psychodynamic principles - which values attachment, relationships, and warmth - she incorporates her knowledge of neuropsychological processes and development into a strengths-based approach to child-centered play therapy.
Working in various settings in Brazil, France, and now New York, Dr. Mazetto has extensive experience in Developmental Psychology and has expertise in neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis, which allows her to understand and convey to parents the underlying processes that might be driving the child’s challenges.
Dr. Mazetto received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) in collaboration with the University of Paris (Sorbonne). She also completed a Masters in Mental Health Counseling and Wellness at NYU. She has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters in childhood psychology. Dr. Mazetto provides therapy in both English and Portuguese.
