Dr. Rachael James is a post-doctoral psychologist at the Williamsburg Therapy Group who provides psychotherapy to adults, couples, adolescents, and children navigating diverse challenges, including anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and more. She takes an integrative approach, drawing from multiple treatment modalities including mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, attachment-focused, and psychodynamic therapies.
Dr. James provides a safe space for clients to feel supported, connected, and understood. Utilizing a warm and genuine style, she collaborates with her clients to help them expand insight and clarify what is truly important. She believes that by enhancing ways to cope with painful thoughts and feelings and by building on strengths and resilience, we can all grow from challenges and pursue goals for healthy and meaningful lives. Dr. James is passionate about helping her clients, and she brings openness, empathy, flexibility, and humor to her work.
Dr. James received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cornell University and her master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the James J. Peter’s (Bronx VA) Medical Center, where she gained extensive experience working with individuals with PTSD. She has also held positions at Bellevue Hospital Center, Northwell Health’s Behavioral Health College Partnership, and Hofstra University’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy Clinic.
