Williamsburg psychiatry group director
Shane Konrad, MD is a licensed physician practicing adult psychiatry with a holistic approach to patient care which includes psychotherapy, proper diet and exercise, and medication management.
“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.”
“Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy–the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” –Dr. Brené Brown.
Dr. Konrad believes that our inner resistance to facing our fears and vulnerabilities includes the initial resistance to reach out for help. In addition to medication management, Dr. Konrad takes an integrative approach to psychotherapy. He helps each patient utilize individual strengths and problem solve by bringing together aspects of their affective, cognitive, behavioral, and physiological systems.
Dr. Konrad completed his general psychiatry training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also completed subspecialty fellowship training at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and the New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Konrad specializes in treating young adults & adults for a wide variety of issues including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, substance abuse disorders, and LGBT issues.
