Dr. Victoria Frisse, Ph.D.
Dr. Victoria Frisse is a post-doctoral psychologist at the Williamsburg Therapy Group who provides psychotherapy to adults, couples, and adolescents. She is skilled in providing evidence-based treatments for individuals experiencing anxiety,mood, adjustment, trauma, relationship difficulties and personality disorders.
Her area of expertise is in Anxiety disorders.
Dr. Frisse engages in a proactive, collaborative approach to therapy, utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques. She views each client as a unique individual, and helps them to identify challenges, set realistic goals, and create meaningful change in their lives.
She has developed expertise in providing treatment for individuals struggling with Anxiety disorders, including Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Specific Phobia, PTSD, OCD, and Generalized Anxiety. She focuses on evidence based practices, such as in-vivo Exposure and Response Prevention.
One of Dr. Frisse’s strongest assets is her genuine capacity for empathy and perspective-taking. She has the extraordinary ability for delivering effective interventions within the scope of a warm and supportive therapeutic alliance.
In addition, Dr. Frisse has experience working with individuals to develop effective coping strategies as they experience difficult periods of transition. She has experience leading groups for children and college students with social anxiety, and skill based groups for adolescents/young adults with ADHD. She incorporates aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, communication skills and assertiveness into her treatment.
Dr. Frisse received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Stony Brook University. She has worked in specialized outpatient clinics for OCD and other Anxiety Disorders, Adult and Child outpatient psychiatry units, university counseling centers, private practices, and the Pediatric Psychiatric Emergency Department.
