Anxiety & Depression

Most people feel anxious or depressed at times. Losing a loved one, getting fired from a job, going through a divorce, and other difficult situations can cause a person to feel sad, frustrated, lonely, scared, nervous, or anxious. These feelings are normal reactions to life’s stress.

But some people experience these feelings daily or nearly daily, sometimes for no apparent reason, making it difficult to carry on with normal, everyday functioning. When these feelings happen often and intensely enough that they interfere with a person’s day-to-day life, they may be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder or depressive disorder. Often anxiety and depression happen together, and as a result, nearly half of those diagnosed with depression are also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

The good news is that these disorders are both treatable, both separately and together. The psychologists at the Williamsburg Therapy Group provide individual psychotherapy to effectively treat anxiety and depressive disorders by combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused therapeutic perspectives. It can be difficult and painful to work on these feelings, and our psychotherapists create a warm, welcoming environment to help people find ways to work on these symptoms and improve their quality of life.
