At Williamsburg Therapy Group, individual therapy is specific to every single patient.

You don't arrive with a manual, and your therapy shouldn't follow one either. Every person carries a different history, different patterns, and different reasons for being stuck. Our psychologists know that — and work accordingly.

Therapy for Brooklyn Residents Who Want Real Change

Since 2013, Williamsburg Therapy Group has provided individual therapy to Brooklyn residents across Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and the wider borough. Every psychologist on our team holds a doctoral degree - PhD or PsyD - and is licensed to practice in New York State.

Brooklyn carries its own pressure: the constant drive to perform, career burnout, relationship difficulty, the quiet loss of knowing what you actually want. These are the concerns our clients bring in. Our team is trained to work with them.roach to address these specific concerns with compassion and clinical expertise.

What Working With Us Actually Looks Like

Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, our experienced psychologists blend evidence-based techniques with strategies tailored to your background, history, and what's actually driving the difficulty.

Before the First Session: Free Consultation

You'll speak with our patient coordinator before anything else. They'll learn about your situation and match you with the psychologist whose training and approach align with what you need - not just whoever has the next opening.

First Session: Building Your Foundation

The first session is a conversation. Your psychologist's priority is to be fully present - listening carefully to what's brought you in now, and beginning to build a broader picture of your patterns, history, and how you make sense of yourself and your relationships. It's collaborative from the start.

Ongoing Sessions: Working Toward Your Goals

Sessions draw from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and DBT - the balance shifts depending on where you are in the work. Early sessions tend to be more practical and supportive; later work often becomes more reflective as trust develops. When medication is part of the picture, care is coordinated with our in-house psychiatry team. Sessions run 45–50 minutes.

"The goal of therapy isn't to become perfect or turn into a completely different person. It's about building awareness - of your patterns, your emotions, your reactions - so that you have more room to make intentional choices."
