Cultivating Mutual Respect in a Relationship, and Why it's Important
Mutual respect in a relationship means valuing your partner as an equal and treating them with dignity. This is a...

You don't arrive with a manual, and your therapy shouldn't follow one either. Every person carries a different history, different patterns, and different reasons for being stuck. Our psychologists know that — and work accordingly.
Since 2023, Williamsburg Therapy Group has provided individual therapy to Miami residents across Coral Gables, High Pines, and the wider city. Every psychologist on our team holds a doctoral degree - PhD or PsyD - and is licensed to practice in Florida.
Miami carries its own pressure: the relentless social performance, career ambition, relationship difficulty, the quiet loss of knowing what you actually want beneath the surface of it all. According to NAMI, 2,889,000 adults in Florida have a mental health condition - more than six times the entire population of Miami. These are the concerns our clients bring in. Our team is trained to work with them.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, our experienced psychologists blend evidence-based techniques with strategies tailored to your background, history, and what's actually driving the difficulty.
You'll speak with our patient coordinator before anything else. They'll learn about your situation and match you with the psychologist whose training and approach align with what you need - not just whoever has the next opening.
The first session is a conversation. Your psychologist's priority is to be fully present - listening carefully to what's brought you in now, and beginning to build a broader picture of your patterns, history, and how you make sense of yourself and your relationships. It's collaborative from the start.
Sessions draw from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and DBT - the balance shifts depending on where you are in the work. Early sessions tend to be more practical and supportive; later work often becomes more reflective as trust develops. When medication is part of the picture, care is coordinated with our in-house psychiatry team. Sessions run 45–50 minutes.
Research consistently shows that psychotherapy leads to meaningful improvement - helping people reduce symptoms, regain daily function, and experience greater satisfaction in both work and personal life.
Persistent worry can take over your daily life. Our Brooklyn psychologists help you uncover the root causes of anxiety and develop proven strategies to manage symptoms effectively.
Trauma leaves a lasting emotional impact that can affect every area of life. Our psychologists use evidence-based approaches to help you process painful experiences and begin healing.
Depression can bring persistent fatigue, hopelessness, and emotional numbness. If you're struggling or seeking continued care, our doctoral-level therapists provide compassionate, expert support.
Chronic stress from work, finances, or health concerns takes a toll on mind and body. Our psychologists teach practical relaxation and mindfulness techniques to help you find balance.
Sexuality is a personal, evolving part of identity. Our psychologists offer a safe, affirming space to explore your feelings and attractions so you can live authentically as your full self.
Persistent difficulty sleeping leads to fatigue, irritability, and poor focus. Our therapists help you address the underlying thoughts and behaviors that are disrupting your rest and recovery.
Eating disorders involve deeply rooted patterns around food, weight, and body image. Our psychologists help you develop a healthier relationship with food and rebuild self-compassion.
Major changes like marriage, parenthood, job loss, or relocation can feel overwhelming. Our psychologists help you move through transitions with greater clarity and confidence.
Low self-esteem fuels self-doubt, insecurity, and fear of failure. Our therapists help you rebuild your sense of self-worth — strengthening resilience and supporting long-term wellbeing.
Based on our experience with Miami clients, most people engaging in individual therapy attend therapy for 3-6 months, though this varies significantly based on your goals and situation. Some clients find relief within 8-10 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly assess progress together and adjust our approach as needed.
Most Miami clients attend weekly individual therapy sessions but frequency can be flexible depending on your needs. Some clients start with weekly sessions and transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions.
Some therapists may give homework. It depends on their style and what’s appropriate for a given patient. If you prefer homework, or explicitly prefer not to have homework, that’s something our patient coordinator would take into consideration when matching you with a therapist
Results vary but most clients see positive results within 3-4 sessions. After one month, 50% of clients report having more energy, 65% of clients report an improvement in their ability to solve problems, and 70% of employees report thinking more clearly.
